Hispanic Elected Local Officials (HELO) and the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators (NHCSL) jointly making efforts to facilitate policy initiatives for access, contracts, and leadership training to serve the Hispanic community in the US. The main aim behind the joint effort is to keep state funds in the state and benefit the local communities that pay into the fund.

The Las Vegas-based MGM Mirage, a hotel, entertainment, and gaming megalith, decided to bet on diversity throughout its workforce and supply chain, and in construction and other contracting in 2001. The company's diversity program became a business imperative in 2000, superheaded by president and CEO J. Terrence Lanni.
