A Paradigm of Family Transcendence

Article Abstract:

The family transcendence paradigm serves as a unifying theme for diverse family realm attributes within the hermeneutic family theory. The concept reaches beyond the limits of kinship ties to encompass a wider social, cultural, and ecological circle of societal ties. By focusing on local connections in family life, the transcendental paradigm fosters humanity through meaningful sharing of family experiences. Methodological approaches to family transcendence involve validating individual perspective, respecting the host subcultures, and recognizing the ubiquity of connections.

Morality, feminism, and family work: a reply to Sanchez's commentary

Article Abstract:

Laura Sanchez's comments on the article "Beyond Drudgery, Power, and Equity" points to some deficiencies regarding the presentation of feminist research and theory. The points help in clarifying certain ambiguities in the argument. Her comments about the limited contribution of feminist theories is incorrect as the article deals with only one aspect of family, which is family work. It is only in the field of family work that feminist theories have a selective focus. Sanchez's comments expose a serious flaw regarding the explicit meaning of morality.

Beyond drudgery, power, and equity: toward an expanded discourse on the moral dimensions of housework in families

Article Abstract:

Assessments of stereotypical and current orientations to the nature of household labor elucidate the much-needed moral work in reconstructing housework as family service. Studies of housework have increased as a consequence of women's gaining status in the society through political support and self-help in ushering in egalitarianism.
