A sobering experience

The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that some 15% of all 9-10-year-olds have gotten drunk at least once, so parents of preteen children must confront the issue of alcohol use at an early age. The best advice for parents is to limit their own consumption of alcohol.

Coping with colic

Some babies develop colic at two to three weeks despite anything the parents do and without any diagnosable medical problem. Some doctors believe it is purely a developmental stage. Motion, rhythmic noises, pacifiers or blankets may help soothe the infant.
