The doctors' fairy godmother

Article Abstract:

The Medical Research Council (MRC) funds and develops all aspects of clinical research in the UK, supporting some 150 clinical trials to evaluate a range of medical interventions. The MRC funds Britain's best graduates and postgraduates through their early research training, as well as providing three-year and five-year grants for more experienced researchers. Clinical training fellowships enabling clinical practitioners to undertake PhD training, and junior research fellowships for nurses and other professions allied to medicine are among many awards funded by the MRC.
