Article Abstract:
The UK Economic and Social Research Council is shortly to present the findings of its 1.6 million pounds sterling 'The Nation's Diet' research programme investigating food choice. This work, which has involved 18 studies, has focused on establishing why people eat what they do. It has been established that psychological stress influences both the amount and choice of people's food. However, specific dietary patterns change with the type of stress and the characteristics of the person concerned.
