An examination of parent-child shared time

Article Abstract:

Shared parent-child activities are necessary for the best development of the children and are consider superior to solitary activities. Older children share less company with mothers that spend more time in marketing. However, the time spent in parent-child shared leisure and household activities increases. Fathers generally compensate the older children for the decreased shared time. There is sex-typing of household activities in the parent-child shared time.

Corporal punishment as a stressor among youth

Article Abstract:

Corporal punishment leads to depression and distress distress in children and adolescents. High frequencies of physical punishment correspond to high degrees of distress. Low and average levels of corporal punishment also develop distress in children. Parental support along with frequent corporal punishment induces greater depression in children.

Exploring the link between corporal punishment and children's cruelty to animals

Article Abstract:

A study of 267 college undergraduates considered the link between corporal punishment inflicted by parents and the perpetration of animal abuse. It found that males who committed animal cruelty in childhood or adolescence were physically punished more frequently by their fathers, than those who did not commit animal cruelty.
