Childhood migration and social integration in adulthood

Article Abstract:

Research into the connection between childhood, adolescent and postadolescent migration and social integration in adulthood indicates that earlier moves both boost and negatively affect social integration in adulthood. There is strong evidence that early life migration has long-term repercussions for adult levels of social integration. In particular, there are positive effects of not moving and negative effects of moves during adolescence. Earlier family context and contemporary adult characteristics of the children do not change the majority of the significant repercussions of migration.

The effects of transitions in marital status on men's performance of housework

Article Abstract:

The gender disparity in the performance of household tasks goes further than differences in the average amounts of housework undertaken by men and women, according to research into the impact of transitions in marital status on changes in the time men devote to housework. It was shown that both men and women alter their housework behaviours when they begin or end coresidential unions. Men significantly reduce the time they spend on household tasks when they enter coresidential unions with women, while women increase theirs when they enter a coresidential union.
