Bless this mess

Article Abstract:

Accepting and appreciating the scattered toys, emptied boxes and repeatedly-dropped baby spoons can help fuel a child's imagination. The child enjoys dumping, pouring, piling, dumping, stacking, knocking the stack down and stacking again, feeling power each time this is done. If the act does not cause physical harm, these messy transgression should be allowed, at least once, so that the child knows what it felt like.
