Correlates of male adolescents carrying handguns among their peers

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the factors associated with the carrying of handguns by male adolescents, focusing on the family, peer group, neighborhood and school setting. Findings suggest that teenage boys that engage in other deviant behavior are more likely to have handguns than their peers.

Commitment to work among welfare-reliant women

Article Abstract:

Results are presented from an interview with 84 women welfare recipients on their commitment to work. Topics addressed include barriers to womens' formal participation in the labor force, the rural job market, informal and care work, survival strategies, support networks, and welfare stigma.
