Education and training of children's mental health professionals: the existing and potential role of schools of public health

Article Abstract:

A national survey of 27 accredited schools of public health in the US and Puerto Rica was conducted. The field of public health provides an interdisciplinary setting for the education and training of children's mental health professionals. The survey analyzes each organization's capacity for and potential to broaden educational and training opportunities. Furthermore, the survey examines the financing and delivery of children's mental health services.

Reading level and readability of patient education materials in mental health

Article Abstract:

The article discusses the health information available to mental health patients due to Internet access and the problems clinicians face due to the high levels of education of their patients. The authors maintain that clinicians fear that their patients will research their condition and become better informed than the clinicians themselves, and they are concerned whether the information the patients are obtaining is accurate.

Readability of behavioral treatment programs in mental health

Article Abstract:

Issues related to factors that improve behavioral treatment programs are examined, focusing on the importance of readability in behavioral treatment plans in order to ensure hospital staff implement treatment goals. Topics include factors that determine readability in medical literature and recommendations for improving writing style.
