Handling preteen angst

Article Abstract:

Children from eight to 10 years old usually go through a period when they become withdrawn, distant, angry or secretive and refuse the company or compassion of their parents. Such preteen angst is normal behavior if without other signs of distress. Parents should keep distance, avoid preaching and offer small privileges during this stage.

Interruption busters

Article Abstract:

It is important that children learn to not interrupt their parents when they are in the middle of a task or a phone call. For them to learn this lesson, its meaning and value should be first explained by the parents through the language and situation they understand.
