A mother bids farewell to childraising. Although raising babies requires much parental attention, it proves to be simpler than raising teenagers because of the latter's accompanying emotional conflicts. The transition beyond childraising allows more opportunities for parents' self-improvement.

Raising a reader

A woman describes how well-motivated her neurologically impaired child was to read even though reading was a very laborious process for her. The girl's motivation may have came from her mother's love of reading, which she made apparent throughout her daughter's childhood.
