Many parents, in an effort to provide their children with a variety of activities, may be setting too hectic a pace for the wellbeing of the children. Not only could the pace exhaust their children, it could also bring about a severe lack of family intimacy and a loss of the family's center.

The family of Commander Dick Scobee of the ill-fated Challenger space shuttle flight in 1986, has recovered from the loss of Scobee. His wife has remarried and is involved in educating children about space travel, while his two children have accepted their loss and gone on with their lives.
