The greening of consumerism

Article Abstract:

Consumers are increasingly seeing the environmental friendliness of products and services as being an added value. For consumers to exercise an informed choice as to the environmental friendliness of products and services, there needs to be more information. Formerly, relevant information has embraced those traditional consumer values of quality, service, safety, and price. Businesses will have to accommodate environmentally aware consumers in order to remain successful, and supply them with this information through their accounting systems as consumers increasingly see their economic choice as carrying the responsibility of promoting a safe environment and promoting the social good, characterized as the maintenance of acceptable living standards and sustainable growth with environmental friendly policies.
