'The Geographical Magazine' owes its origins to Michael Huxley, founder and first editor. Huxley's experience as a diplomat informed his opinions and interests in world-spanning issues. He constantly searched for the highest-ranked experts to write articles, partly attracting them through his scholarly reputation. Huxley brought the world's attention to fields of knowledge before they became classified as earth and life sciences. He helped assemble capable journalists and faithful subscribers to create a relevant, fresh magazine for the better part of this century.
