A new kind of giving

Article Abstract:

Corporations increasingly are donating surplus equipment and materials to charities in lieu of cash donations. Donations have no effect on the book value of a company and offers charities materials and equipment with useful life. Charities are taking the initiative and approaching companies for participation in asset recycling schemes. Personal contacts that have developed between charity and corporate personnel have led to: offers of professional advice; corporate sponsorships; and seconding of corporate staff to charities.
