An overview is presented on ecological restoration efforts underway in the Illinois River floodplain. The Nature Conservancy purchased 1,157 acres of land that was drained to accommodate row crop agriculture, replanted native vegetation, and re-flooded the region using pumps to mimic seasonal variations.
