Le Gabon met l' tude un projet de r habilitation

Article Abstract:

Gabon's domestic 7.600 km road network will get FFr 3.34bn from PAPSUT, the Transport and Urban Sector Planning and Adjustment Project. This project plans a total investment of FFr 5.15bn between 1998 and 2005, and is expected to get money from the Kuwait Fund, the World Bank, the African Development Bank, and the European Union. In the meantime, the name of the purchaser of OCTRA, the Trans-Gabon Railroad Office is to be revealed before 31 December 1998; the choice is between Transurb allied with Gabon's foresters, on one hand, and Systra and the Compagnie Mini re de Ogou on the other. The winner, which will manage the Libreville-Franceville line which is currently operated by OCTRA, will have to tackle the problem of overstaffing at OCTRA. In order to become profitable, OCTRA will have to lose at least a third of its 1,900 employees.
