A new gastronomic center: The Ferry Building Marketplace combines produce and dining under one roof

Article Abstract:

Ferry Building, a pointed clock tower marked as a symbol of the Market Street in San Francisco, is now turned into a mall. Commuters still stream through the long, arched hall to catch ferries, but a recent renovation has turned the Ferry Building into San Francisco's gastronomic center.

A survey of various restaurants in San Francisco is undertaken to rate them for awards for excellence. The restaurants are classified into categories of 'Grand Dining', 'Less Lavish, More Relaxed', and 'San Francisco Originals' based on the criteria of food, wine, service and ambience.
