Americans invest in France's wine phoenix

Article Abstract:

West Coast wineries such as Mondavi, Geyser Peak and Chateau Ste Michelle are buying 1996 wines from Languedoc, a region that has improved greatly since the 1980s. Good whites of the vintage will be plentiful, but the best reds will be a bit more scarce.

Wine criticism is not appropriately done in an informal setting, such as during dinner with friends. In such a context, criticism robs people of the pleasures of drinking wine, thus negating wine's purpose of proving happiness and pleasure.

Wines of the Loire region are often excellent but are often ignored in the international market. This is a shame because wine lovers would benefit from discovering some of these wines. Several specific wines are discussed.
