The countries Rhone, Australia and California are the leaders when it comes to the production of the grape Syrah and also other areas are showing dramatic improvements in quality along with increases in vineyard plantings. Old World regions with long histories of their own are also looking to Syrah more and more, along with the New World regions.

Chile has quietly moved into the mainstream consciousness of American wine consumers and is steadily improving with solid Cabernet Sauvignon bottling and rising quality among Carmenere, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. Despite increased worldwide competition, the country's export of wine to the United States is still high.

Northern exposure Rhone

The beautiful French village that was obscured by its neighbors Northern Rhone and Cote-Rotie is presented. The excellent wines it has produced in the vintage years 2005, 2001 and 2004 that outclassed neighboring wine producing districts is reported.
