Big bottles fetch big prices: Large-format bottles are selling at auction for very large sums

Article Abstract:

Collecting experts believe that the large-format bottles are indicators of the economy in good times, since people entertain more often and prices for the vintages like imperials and jeroboams rise, even as the spring and early-summer auctions indicate that the big bottles are in great demand and the wine collectors are buying wine as usual. The collectors believe that the wines in larger formats have longer shelf life and age more slowly which make them ideal accessories at tasting or parties.
