Burger King expanding in Poland

Article Abstract:

US fastfood giant Burger King has announced that it is to invest approximately US$100m (??97m) in its Polish operations by 2007. Already present in Poland via its subsidiary International Fast Food Polska (IFFP), Burger King has invested US$24m there since 1994. The new investment programme will see the opening of 135 new restaurants, many of which will be located in hypermarkets and shopping centres. IFFP president Michael Walsh said that Burger King will increase its annual sales in Poland to US$18m in 1999.

McDonald's takes a bite of the pizza market

McDonald's, the fast food hamburger chain, has acquired Donatos Pizzas. The latter is a family-owned group of pizza restaurants in the Columbus, Ohio area. The move appears to signal McDonalds decision to diversify in order to foster growth.
