Christie's new record

Article Abstract:

Christie's twice smashed the world auction record for the highest price paid for a case of wine at the house's inaugural evening auction Los Angeles, California, in September 2006. A case of Chateau Mouton-Rothschild 1945 sold for a stunning US$290,000 and a six-magnum case of Mouton-Rothschild 1945 for US$345,000, or the equivalent of US$28,750 a 750ml bottle, both lots going to the same anonymous buyer, who placed bids by telephone.

Winter sales spark bidders' thirst

Article Abstract:

The 2007 auction season saw huge volumes of wines being sold, and nearly $18 million of fine and rare wine being traded between January and mid-February. Prices far exceeded presale estimates with record rates for valued collectibles, while first-growth 2000s also saw a sharp increase in value.
