Costco talks about a revolution

Article Abstract:

Costco Wholesale Corp., the national chain of warehouse clubs that has become the largest US wine retailer through its vast purchasing power and low prices, is battling with the Washington State Liquor Control Board since 2004. Costco argues that its home state's regulations on alcohol distribution violate federal antitrust law and the US Constitution and it prefers to deal directly with wine producers in order to eliminate some of the costs inherent in three-tier distribution system.

U.S. rep.Mike Thompson, who represented the 1st Congressional District of California since 1998, and a cofounder of the Congressional Wine Caucus, speaks about his association with wine making and his 20-acre organic vineyard. He states that the Congressional Wine Caucus provides an opportunity for the wine industry to interact with legislators, which results in opening discussion and passage of legislations important to the industry.
