How auctions could be friendlier

Charity wine auctions are oftentimes exclusive to the rich who can spend a significant amount of money on wines. Ordinary consumers, however, may be able to join them if wineries allow a group of people to bid for a barrel with a set price, dividing the cost and the wine cases among themselves.

Williams Selyem has produced some outstanding wines. The California vintner's Pinot Noirs are rated on a scale of one to 100, with tasting notes and prices provided. A 1992 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir Rochioli Vineyard at $80 is rated 97.
