JAPAN: POKKA AND NESTLE SIGN NESTEA DEAL

Targeting automatic vending machine sales, which represent [yen] 500,000 per vending machine per year in Japan, Pokka Corp and Nestle Japan have signed a joint business contract for product bearing the Nestea international brand. Nestle turned to Pokka because the Otsuka Group, with which it already has a agreement for Nescafe ready-to-drink coffee in cans, already has its own line of Java Tea. Pokka Corp already has a licence for Brooke Bond brand black tea drinks with Unilever.

Pokka Corp and Nestle Japan have signed a contract whereby Pokka will produce and distribute Nestea ready-to-drink teas in Japan, and Nestle Japan will handle the marketing. They have set a sales target of 10mn cases in within two to three years.
