Limoux: white wines take the lead

Article Abstract:

Limoux, lying south of Carcassonne in high, rolling country within sight of the Pyrenees, is a district where white wines excel, as it is situated at the juncture of the warm, dry Mediterranean climate and the cooler, moister Atlantic climate. Limoux was recently awarded AOC status beginning with the coming vintage, 2003 for making high quality red wines.

Markham expands and makes new reserve bottlings

Article Abstract:

Markham spent $12 million to expand its winemaking operations, and the winery is now more than twice its former size. The winery's vintners plan to double their production and release a reserve bottling of its 1991 Chardonnay under the Laurent label.

Revival at Rodney Strong

Rodney Strong Vineyards has had its troubles, but under the leadership of businessman Tom Klein it has achieved success. In 2000 the vineyard sold 491,000 cases of wine for $45 million.
