Long Island land rush draws investors

Article Abstract:

A group of Chilean wine executives recently purchased a Long Island winery for $2 million. It is the first significant foreign investment in the region, but industry analysts expect more in the near future. The region has a Bordeaux-like climate, proximity to the New York City market, and offers something different for Europeans looking for a change from California wines.

Napa Valley's happy days

A description of events at the 2000 Napa Valley Wine Auction in California which raised $9.5 million for local charities is presented. The funds raised are distributed mainly to healthcare organizations.

Currency crisis spurs bargains
