Two House bills would boost state crackdown efforts

Article Abstract:

US legislators decided not to include direct-shipping restrictions on wine in the juvenile-justice bill. However, it is expected that Congress will continue to attempt to restrict interstate direct shipments of alcohol, and the proposal may still make it onto the final version of the bill, when a committee meets to reconcile House and Senate version differences.

Home-delivery crackdown approved by wide margin

Article Abstract:

The US House of Representatives approved a bill known as the 21st Amendment Enforcement Act, which will regulate the shipping of alcoholic beverages between states. Winery groups have opposed the legislation, saying that it makes it more difficult for small wineries to sell their product, and more difficult for consumers to purchase premium wines.
