PepsiCo strong on snacks

Article Abstract:

Frito-Lay, the snack arm of US soft drinks and snack giant PepsiCo, has overtaken the better known drinks division to become the more profitable business. Although Frito-Lay generates only just over half of group turnover (1998: US$22.35bn (??21.2bn)), it contributes 65% of operating profits. While PepsiCo lags far behind arch rival Coca-Cola in the soft drinks business, Frito-Lay is the undisputed leader of the global snack sector. It currently accounts for 68% of US snack sales.
