The Betz factor

Pioneering Washington vintner Bob Betz has helped drive Washington wine industry since the mid-1970s and he established Betz Family in 2003, which is winning high praises for its wines made from red Bordeaux and Rhone varieties. Syrah Columbia Valley La Serenne 2003, Clos de Betz Columbia Valley 2003, Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Pere de Famille 2003 and Grenache Columbia Valley Besoleil 2003 are some of the recent releases from Betz Family vineyards.

Gold rush on Red Mountain

A solution to the water problems in the arid desert region of Red Mountain in Washington is making the place much sought-after for wineries. The Red Mountain grapes that give highly structured wines, and the climate and soil of the region suited for growing Cabernet are attracting several grapegrowers and winemakers.
