Three centuries of Chateau D'Yquem

Article Abstract:

German wine collector Hardy Rodenstock hosted a wine tasting in Munich. The event was Rodenstock's 18th Rare Wine tasting and the 1999 event was marked by the tasting of many vintages of Chateau d'Yquem. Two bottles were dated 1784 and 1787 and were supposedly ordered by Thomas Jefferson. The event lasted a week and 127 wines were tasted. Many of the wines were very old. Some wonder at Rodenstock's motives as his role as seller of rare wines may create a conflict of interest.

'94 Bordeaux prices jump as vintners see higher quality

Article Abstract:

Futures offerings of major Bordeaux chateaus are higher by 4% to 16% than 1993 futures. They are confident, however, that these higher prices will not dampen the market's interest due to more superior wines offered in 1994.
