US/JAPAN: KENKO TUSHA, YAMAWA TEAM UP

Article Abstract:

The Japanese companies Yamawa Engineering and Kenko Tsusho have founded an equally-owned company named Micro Foods in Fresno, California. The new company will make very fine particle powders by using low temperature milling technology which was developed by Yumawa Engineering. The company plans to sell these powders in the United States and to export them to Japan. The new low temperature milling process cuts processing time, reduces milling costs, and prevents the denaturation of nutrients and vitamins. These fine powders may be used in health care products, processed foods, and baby foods, and the companies expect there to be demand in the United States for them. They plan to begin production in summer 2000.
