Vintners win approval for health statements on labels

Article Abstract:

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms has approved 2 wine bottle labels that give information about where consumers can find out about the health benefits of drinking wine. Sen Strom Thurmond opposes the labeling, and has introduced legislation to increase the federal excise tax on wine in retaliation. Vintners say they are not trying to sell more wine, but want to give more information to consumers.
