A pioneer in Penedes

Article Abstract:

Miguel Torres, Jr, creates Spain's top Cabernet-based wine. A vertical tasting of Torres' Black Label Cabernets from 1971 to 1993 shows the wines to be good, but a bit expensive. Pure Cabernet wines are seldom produced in Spain. Torres' style is discussed.

When second comes first

Article Abstract:

Second Bordeaux wines from top chateaus can be great bargains. Seconds are often nearly as good as first-growth wines when the vintage is a good one. Chateau Lagrange's Marcel Ducasse makes fine wines, and the seconds produced by the vintner are also good.
