Williams Selyem terroir

Article Abstract:

The wine which Burt Williams and Ed Selyem turned out was good enough to inspire them to start Hacienda del Rio, their own commercial winery, in a two-car garage not far from Joe Rochioli's vineyard in the Russian River valley. Williams signed a non-compete agreement and has planted 12.5 acres of Pinot Noir on a 40 acres property in Mendocino County.

The year 2005 has produced the best young vintage for Burgundy wine as they are ripe, vibrant and balanced and have a juicy, fleshy midpalate and they reflect their individual terroirs. The good year is due to the perfect weather conditions and the demand is extraordinary, unlike any vintage seen in the last 20 years of business.
