A back-yard retreat: this may be the ultimate outdoor kitchen

The outdoor kitchen of Chris and Anna-Becky Redlich are one of the best in California. It features custom-made double barbecue pits that can be accessorized with roasting spits, a fireplace, a sink and shelved storage space. The couple uses the kitchen when entertaining guests.

The trivet tradition

The words trivet derives from the Latin word tripes, which means three footed. Trivets were first produced in the US during the 18th century, and come in a variety of types such as hanging and grease trivets. Collectible trivet prices range from $25 to thousands of dollars.
