Dee and Rick Ray purchased the 1915 Duke mansion, which had been subdivided into condominiums. The Rays were disturbed over the extensive changes, especially in the kitchen, and immediately restored it. The home is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The remodeling job of a kitchen in a 1927 Italian-style villa is described. In the remodeling, a butler's pantry, breakfast room and an extra bathroom were combined with the original space to enlarge the kitchen.
