Calcium and the colon: recent findings

Article Abstract:

Recent intervention trials suggest that calcium appears to modulate colon cell proliferation and calcium carbonate supplementation can reduce the rate of colonic adenomatous polyps. The study showed that an increase in consumption of low-fat dairy food that reached a daily intake of 1200 mg of calcium showed significant change of abnormal colonic mucosa in the subjects.
