Dietary glucose and fat attenuate effects of adrenalectomy on energy balance in ob/ob mice

Article Abstract:

Adrenalectomy on genetically obese (ob/ob) mice results in the arrest of further development of obesity. However, certain purified diets can attenuate the response of ob/ob mice to adrenalecotomy by decreasing the energy balance response. The effects of dietary carbohydrates and fat on the energy balance of adrenalectomized mice were investigated. The results showed that dietary glucose and fat can block about one-half of the overall effect of adrenalectomy on energy balance, indicating that glucose and fat promote higher efficiencies of energy retention.

Lymph chylomicron size is modified by fat saturation in rats

Article Abstract:

A study was done to determine the effects of fat saturation to the size of lymph chylomicrons in rats. Results show that size differences in secreted chylomicrons are caused by differences in efficiency of absorption and transport between saturated and unsaturated fat. In addition, the fat saturation of intestinally infused corn and butter oil was shown to influence chylomicron number.
