Dietary practices and nutrition beliefs through the adult life cycle

Article Abstract:

The dietary practices and beliefs of residents in Wyoming are examined to determine existing differences in nutrition practices among individuals across the adult life span. Results show that the respondents have adequate nutrition knowledge although such beliefs are found to be inconsistent with practice. The older individuals choose more traditional meals compared to the younger ones. Findings also indicate that the frequency of meals eaten outside of the home decreased with increasing age. The implications of these results to nutrition education are discussed.

Healthy menu intervention in restaurants in low-income neighbourhoods: a field experience

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine the feasibility of an intervention designed to offer healthy menu options in a family-style restaurant and in a fast-food restaurant that are located in an inner-city neighborhood. Data were collected through self-administered questionnaires in on-site surveys of restaurant clientele. Results indicate that the demand for healthy menu options in the restaurants were precipitated by regular customers in the fast-food restaurants and male customers in the family-style restaurant.
