High bone mass as a marker for breast cancer risk

Article Abstract:

Bone density may indicate risk potential for breast cancer, higher mass pointing to higher risk. Women in the highest quartile of metacarpal bone mass measurement had significantly higher rates of breast cancer per 1000 person-years than those in lower quartiles. The primary avenue of investigation into this relationship focuses on estrogen, which is known to regulate bone formation and is also considered a risk factor for breast cancer.

Vitamin B12 deficiency: a new risk factor for breast cancer?

Article Abstract:

A prospective epidemiologic study finding an increased risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women below a threshold serum vitamin B12 level is described. This is the first study to suggest that vitamin B12 deficiency could result in breast neoplasms and be a modifiable risk factor for breast cancer prevention.
