Increasing cultural competence for effective client counselling: an experimental course

Article Abstract:

The nation's increasingly diverse culture is observed in the continuous growth of its ethnic minorities, with non-Latin whites expected to constitute less than 50% of the total population by 2060. A three-unit upper-division college course has been developed for nutrition and other health profession majors that employs an open, non-judgemental approach to cultural beliefs and values. The course and learning techniques used in the course are discussed.
