Presenting in style

Article Abstract:

Making presentations requires planning and forethought to ensure they are useful to the participants and not too stressful for the presenter. Presentations should be straightforward, given in a clear voice. Any equipment needed for the presentation must be checked and the room prepared. The presentation should include different activities to stop boredom, such as group work, question times and funny interludes. Any information given in the form of handouts must be clear and useful. Clothes worn by the presenter must not distracting and should be comfortable.

Moderate alcohol intake and mortality

Article Abstract:

A study of 18,244 men living in Shanghai, China, found those ingesting no more than two alcoholic drinks per day reduced their mortality risk by 19%. The middle aged men began the study between 1986 and 1989 and had follow-up for death or cancer reports each year until 1995. Four or fewer drinks per day resulted in a 36% reduction in mortality from coronary heart disease, but had no effect on stroke. The study did not restrict participants to a particular type of alcohol.
