Article Abstract:

Hopkins Technology's NutriStar nutrition reference on CD-ROM contains a list of over 40,000 foods and their corresponding nutritional values. NutriStar offers six database files and more than 100 nutrient classifications. The easy-to-install software is touted as 'the world's largest, most complete source of nutrition information.' NutriStar's features include tracking capability, a help system, copying, printing, annotating and bookmarking.

All roads lead to Mintz: no matter how far he roams. An anthropologist always ends up in his kitchen

Article Abstract:

Mintz, an anthropology teacher at Johns Hopkins Univ, enjoys cooking and sees it as a social glue. A big influence in his life was the ways of his Polish immigrant father who owned a diner. The three recipes presented are kholodnik, a cold soup, kasha with lamb, and lamb perfumed with herbs.
