Nutrition DISCovery personalized CD-ROM diet assessment program

Article Abstract:

Nutrition DISCovery is an interactive, user-friendly CD-ROM software program that is based on a food frequency questionnaire developed by a University of California in Berkeley epidemiology and public health nutrition professor. The software consists of more than 100 colorful screens that guide users to the aisles of a virtual supermarket, where they receive audio and visual prompts for information about the type, quantity and frequency of foods usually consumed. It provides dietary assessment and other vital information on nutrition.

'Ready, Set, Dinner': how the National Potato Promotion Board leveraged its nutrition education program for maximum results

Article Abstract:

'Ready, Set, Dinner' is an interactive nutrition education program developed by the National Potato Promotion Board. The software contains a well-balanced collection of 40 potato recipes and menus. It allows users to add their own recipes, make a weekly meal plan and create a grocery list. The National Potato Promotion Board has received a total of 17,000 orders for the software sine it was introduced in Jan. 1995.

Kansas LEAN: an effective coalition for nutrition education and dietary change

Article Abstract:

The Kansas LEAN Coalition aims to reduce the incidence of chronic disease among Kansas residents through nutrition education and community intervention. The coalition seeks to expand awareness of the relationship of chronic disease, particularly heart disease and cancer. Kansas LEAN uses the infrastructure of the state health agency but does not use state general funds.
