This article discusses cultural perceptions of body weight and diet. The author examines the importance of body image in todays society and discusses the psychological affect it is having on people, stating that obese people are often treated as deviant, and thin people are revered even though they may not be healthy.

Diet, neurochemicals, and mental energy

Article Abstract:

Foods and drugs humans take to alter their mental energy, such as alcohol, caffeine and dietary supplements, and the affects on the brain are examined. The author maintains the brain's chemistry can be changed by certain foods and drugs due to the impact they have on the neurotransmitters, such as serotonin.

Dieting and weight loss: the energy perspective

The relationship between weight management, exercise, and energy levels are discussed. The author maintains that eating a sensible diet, which include the proper nutrients, and engaging in strength-building and aerobic exercise will increase a person's energy level and control weight gain.
