Canadian lumber deal may boost EWP trade

Article Abstract:

The five-year deal to reduce Canadian exports of duty-free lumber into the U.S. by about 1 million cu m per year may provide a boost to domestic engineered wood product (EWP) manufacturers. The reduction in the volume of high-quality logs available to provide lumber for the light-frame construction market will improve the EWP market. Products that will benefit include oriented strand board (OSB), oriented strand lumber (OSL), laminated veneer lumber (LVL), wood I-joists, structural laminated panels, and medium-density fiberboard (MDF).
