Stupid is forever, but ignorance can be cured

Article Abstract:

The increasing legal support for business-product liability class action lawsuits has made precarious the position of many forest product manufacturers. Forest product companies generally have responded inadequately to legal suits that allege criminal negligence against them, and many companies appear to substantially underestimate the total monetary liability to which they may ultimately be held. Forest product companies should improve communication techniques and assume that they will be held responsible for all installation issues when formulating a prudent legal basis for defense.

Wood-panel makers consider cement-fiber to boost profits

Article Abstract:

Cement-bonded wood-fiber siding and roofing products could boost North American wood-panel producers' profits. Changes in the quantity and quality of timber available and the adoption of new manufacturing technologies are enhancing the prospects for cement-fiber products. The market for cement-bonded siding is expected to grow 30-50% per year through 2000, while the market for cement-bonded roofing could continue its 20% growth rate.
